Dylan John and his fiancé Ellen turned their passion for style and community into Fore & Wharf, a men’s and women’s clothing boutique embodying the charm of New England. Dylan saw Portland as the ideal place, but he needed to balance seasonal inventory, customer preferences, and trends.

Dylan reached out to the Maine SBDC and connected with Business Advisor Christine (Chris) Cole. He received guidance on crafting a business plan, managing financial projections, and planning inventory for the seasonal market. These foundational steps gave him the tools and confidence to move forward.

Fore & Wharf officially launched its business and features coastal styles, wardrobe essentials, and skincare and fragrance products. Dylan and Ellen have also collaborated with local brands, embedding Fore & Wharf into the local community.

Dylan plans to expand through community events, collaborations, and an enhanced online store. He is committed to maintaining the boutique’s authenticity, ensuring it remains a space where customers feel welcomed and inspired.
